Thank you for writing about this! I hope our society is shifting towards deeper awareness of our children's inborn rights. Childhood is not what it was meant to be and we, as parents, have the ability to change that! One of the most eye-opening books I've ever read on this topic is The Continuum Concept, by Jean Liedloff. It was beyond difficult to get through (extremely depressing), but is invaluable. The author explains the biological needs and expectations of infants (and children), how society has fails horribly to support parents in meeting them (and has for many generations), and ways we can help heal some of the damage done.
