Good change, bad change. To one part of your brain, it doesn’t matter!

Fear.

I can’t stand thinking of all I’ve undoubtedly missed out on thanks to fear.

You really should appreciate it, though. This fine-tuned, innate, immediate response to danger that we’re all equipped with.

The problem is that fear isn’t always helpful!

It’s especially unhelpful when we learn or try new things or take risks. Fear isn’t smart enough to save itself only for times when our life depends on it.

Our unconscious mind cannot distinguish real danger from imagined danger.

Intelligent beings, right? I sometimes wonder. 😆

When I began writing and publishing on Medium, my biggest imagined “danger” was another F-word… failure!

I think our society sure paints a hideous picture of failure.

Would you agree?

I spend ridiculous amounts of time obsessing over creating pieces that will be inspiring, helpful, and engaging — not just “good enough” to publish.

Fear has stopped me from chasing my dreams for years — many more than I want to acknowledge.
