A quote, the kindness of strangers is a powerful antidote to new writer woes, displayed in front of a photo of a trail leading up a hill with mountains in the distance.

Being an aspiring writer/author who’s a homeschooling stay-at-home-mom, I found it overwhelming to begin to establish myself online.

I pondered endless questions — like these:

  • Write on my own blog or on a platform?
  • Who will actually read what I write?
  • When do I focus on social media? Which platform(s)?
  • Should I create profiles on LinkedIn, Fiverr, Upwork, etc.?
  • Who the heck am I to charge for my work if I’m not an expert/pro yet?!

I overthought everything.

All the things.

Analysis paralysis haunted me. But, then I discovered Zulie Rane on YouTube and learned about writing on Medium! Everything she shared inspired me to start writing here.

The Plunge — and Waves of Doubt

In January (2022), I took the plunge, pressed the publish button, and started practicing writing in public! My words and thoughts were out there for the public to see — and to be judged.

It was nerve-wracking but just as exciting!
